A selection of easy to grow hardy ferns that are suitable for dry shade once established. They are all low maintenance and ideal for borders, woodland settings and containers. They prefer shade/part shade, water regularly until they are established and though preferring damper settings will tolerate dry conditions. Like many plants grown in drier conditions, any help that you can give them through the summer months can only help them survive and thrive, so watering when you can and a thick application of mulch once a year will aid moisture retention and reduce any competition from weeds. Remove any dead or unsightly fronds In the spring, and though not essential an application of a general slow release fertilizer i.e. Growmore, along with the mulch will help increase the vigour and health of the ferns throughout the year.
